Avatoru Pass is a very nice high current channel offering divers ample drift opportunities and sightings of large marine life.
Avatoru Pass lies slightly north of Tiputa Pass and serves the small town Avatoru, which is the main town of Rangiroa with a population of less than 1000 inhabitants. Besides tourism catered resorts, hotels and restaurants, you will find some administrative buildings and a post office.
Although not as popular to divers as its southern bigger brother, you will still find many sharks, mantas and colorful marine life while diving here. Large pelagic, grey reef sharks, leopard rays and many other big fish can be found while scuba diving Avatoru Pass.
