Tiputa Pass is the most important pass of Rangiroa. It is the busiest pass that separates the villages Tiputa and Avatoru, the two main villages at Rangiroa. Twice daily, on incoming and outgoing tide, divers can enjoy this fantastic drift dive.

This pass is world renowned for divers since it is one of the best spots in French Polynesia to spot hammerhead sharks and manta rays, especially between December and March. A common term is "shoot the pass" meaning an exhilarating drift dive through the pass amongst several kinds of sharks. Also snorkelers and tourists on a glass bottomed boat can enjoy this spectacle.
